Updated BP Texas City Animation on the 15th Anniversary of the Explosion
On the 15th anniversary of the incident, the U.S. Chemical Safety Board is announcing a forthcoming interactive training application based on one of the worst industrial disasters in recent U.S. history--the March 23, 2005, explosion at the BP refinery in Texas City, Texas, which killed 15 workers, injured 180 others, and caused billions of dollars in economic losses. This updated animation will be included in the training, which will focus on OSHA's Process Safety Management standard. Look for it soon at CSB.gov.

NWR Sturgeon Refinery Overview - North West Redwater Partnership
Welcome to the North West Redwater Sturgeon Refinery
Alberta’s newest stand-alone refinery—the first to be built in more than 30 years. As part of project execution, North West Redwater Partnership (NWR) requires excellence in health, safety and environmental (HSE) performance with the expectation that individuals working at the Sturgeon Refinery Project site will be in full compliance with all applicable legislative requirements as well as NWR HSE objectives, policies, practices, standards, guidelines, procedures and rules.
The project is located on land approximately 45km north-east of Edmonton, immediately west of Agrium’s Redwater Fertilizer Operation in Sturgeon County.

The location offers numerous advantages, including close proximity to major crude oil and diluent pipelines, established infrastructure, and a stable and skilled regional work force. Further, there are several opportunities for product synergies with other industrial plants in Alberta’s Industrial Heartland.
This location is also ideal to form a foundation for future eco-industrial development based on essential feedstocks produced from upgrading and refining bitumen. We expect the products we produce will encourage the development of downstream petrochemical industries.
OUR MISSION
To build, operate and grow a safe, profitable and environmentally responsible bitumen refinery creating high value products for Alberta and the world.
OUR VALUES
Integrity. Respect. Trust. Results.
OUR SUCCESS
Depends on OUR BEHAVIOURS being highly motivated, believing in NWR and the Sturgeon Refinery Project, understanding our individual roles and contributing by:
Demonstrating visible and consistent commitment to personal and process safety.
Performing at our best every day on every task.
Honouring our commitments.
Encouraging and practicing open, honest and regular communication.
Allowing those that are impacted by the outcome to make knowledgeable decisions.
Working at the right level of detail, without duplication or omissions.
Aligning toward common, rather than conflicting goals.
Managing setbacks within a culture of learning, while promoting continuous learning and development.
Supporting a work environment where people feel valued and are able to make a difference.
Celebrating successes and having fun at work.
Making NWR a place where we are all proud to work.
Great Site Plan
NWR is committed to creating a job site that is the most desirable construction project in the Heartland and in the province of Alberta.
The Great Site Plan is a strategy linking NWR’s commitment to tangible, focused initiatives that have direct impact on making the Sturgeon Refinery Project a desirable construction project and a great place to work.
The Great Site Plan’s Strategic Pillars – Health and Safety, Productivity, Work/Life Balance, Pride of Ownership, Training and Development, and Communication – will create an employee value proposition to attract, retain and develop the workforce that will support NWR’s goal of Black Oil In in 2017 .
A large component of the Great Site Plan is communication. This website has been developed with the goal of creating a forum for all individuals working on the site, their families, friends, and the general public to understand the magnitude of what is being built and be part of something GREAT either directly or vicariously.
